Emily Carr (1871-1945) is one of Canada’s most honoured artists. As a female artist in the 1900s, she struggled to make ends meet. Emily tried to capture Canada’s spirit by painting landscapes that included Aboriginal symbols and ways of life. Today, her powerful paintings are recognized all over the world.
